Nicholas Watts is “Wildlife Farmer of the Year”
Plantlife is pleased to announce that Nicholas Watts from Lincolnshire, is this year's winner of the "Nature of Farming Award".
October 04 2013
The award recognises farmers who give nature a helping hand and do the most on their farm to help wildlife.
Nicholas is able to farm in a manner that is sympathetic to the wildlife living there and is keen to reverse the decline in several breeding bird species recorded on his farm. He also nurtures 15 acres of sown wildflower meadow for insects.
Victoria Chester, Chief executive of Plantlife and one of the four Nature of Farming Award judges commented "at a time when every penny counts, it is heartening to see the wildlife benefits and value for public money that can be delivered by farmers like Nicholas. Vine House Farm is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when we farm with nature in mind”
