Global Strategy for Plant Conservation: a review of the UK’s progress towards 2020
In 2002 the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) adopted the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC). This requires signatory nations, of which the UK is part, to seek to halt the loss of plant diversity and includes 16 targets, grouped under five objectives. This report is written by Plantlife using information from a group of organisations known as Plant Link. It summarises the UK’s progress towards each of the targets so far – which are next due to be officially reported in 2020 – and lays down key challenges for the future.
