Make your voice heard...

With 97% of our meadows lost since the 1930s, our road verges could supply vital food and shelter for our declining wildlife. Unfortunately, they are being cut at the wrong times and in the wrong places. This means the wildflowers required are unable to thrive.

If, like us, you would like them managed better for wildlife, please sign our petition by completing the fields under "Find your council" below. Councils will often ask us how many of those who have signed the petition live in their area, so by telling us who is legally responsible for your verges you help us show there is support for them to change. This council may not be your local district or borough council - see "Trouble finding your council?" for the reason below. All personal information will be kept private and held securely.

Find your council

  • Trouble finding your council?

When it comes to road verge management, not all Councils are equal. In your area you will have one that has been designated the Highway Authority. Often this will be a County or City Council. They may delegate the work – for example, to your Parish Council or to local contractors – but as the Council with legal responsibility for looking after your roads “the buck stops with them.” These are the Councils listed above and those we need to persuade.
