Important Arable Plant Areas
Based on Important Plant Areas (IPAs), Important Arable Plant Areas (or IAPAs) are natural or semi-natural arable sites that show exceptional botanical value. Plantlife's Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve is one of over a hundred that have been designated over the UK. To be named as an IAPA, a site must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Hold a significant population of a rare or threatened native, arable plant.
- Have exceptionally rich flora.
- Be an outstanding example of an arable habitat.
